Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson declares March 21st as World Down Syndrome Day

The City of Ocean Springs paid special tribute to one of its residents this evening at the board of aldermen meeting.

In honor of Ocean Springs native Hudson Hartman and those across the globe with Down Syndrome, Mayor Shea Dobson signed a proclamation declaring March 21st, 2021 as World Down Syndrome Day in the City of Ocean Springs.

Dobson was so touched by all the ways Hudson has been able to help advocate for Down Syndrome Awareness and overcome the obstacles that he has faced in his short life, a proclamation to express the city’s support of Hudson and those with Down Syndrome seemed appropriate. “You know, the proclamations– we put them on the agenda, they’re official, they let everyone know this is something that the city desires, this is something the city backs and is behind, this is our values. And so, to me it was something that was a no-brainer. World Down Syndrome Day is something we fully back and we want to just help spread awareness and all the good that comes from it.”

Mayor Dobson will be rocking his new World Down Syndrome awareness day socks on March 21st.
