Ocean Springs Mardi Gras Parades nearing roll time

Mardi Gras season is around the corner and three Ocean Springs parades are nearing the time to roll.

The Ocean Springs Elks Parade is set for Saturday, February 12th beginning at 1 p.m. with their float theme being ‘just for laughs.’

Krewe Unique will follow the Elks on the same day at 1:30 with a theme of ‘Motown: Get Ready Cause Here We Come.”

The Ocean Springs Art Association will then host its night parade on Friday, February 25th at 7 p.m. with a theme of ‘Arabian Nights, A Whole New World.”

All parades will follow the general Ocean Springs parade route beginning on Front Beach and rolling into downtown, finishing on Government Street. Krewe Unique Captain Greg Gipson said, “I am so excited for the city of Ocean Springs, and it’s going to bring back revenue to our small businesses who have been hurting throughout the year due to COVID and I think this is going to be a big shining arm for them. It’s good for the community, it’s good for the Gulf Coast and it’s good for our members who’ve been working and volunteering throughout the whole year.”

For information on how to apply for one of the krewes, call the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce at 228-875-4424.
