Ocean Springs Lions Club Hero of the Year award
The Ocean Springs Lions Club recognized citizens that make an impact in the community at their monthly meeting today.
Five finalists were selected for the club’s “Hero of the Year” Award, which has been awarded since 2017 and celebrates their achievements and impacts in the community and public service.
This year’s winner was 19th Judicial District Attorney Angel Myers-McIlrath, who leads the SoSo Strong Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation in memory of her daughter Sophia Myers.
She now helps children and families battling pediatric brain tumors. “I’ll spend the rest of my life serving this community in one way or another. I love the people here. Like I said, they have given me so much.”
The Lions Club will share details of the award and Myers-McIlrath’s work with Lions International.
