Ocean Springs Ice Breaker Regatta took place this weekend

The 2019 Catamaran racing season is officially underway at the Ocean Springs Yacht Club.

Thirty-eight competitors took to the water this weekend for the annual Ice Breaker Regatta. It consisted of three days of intense buoy racing off the yacht club’s beach in Biloxi Bay.

People gathered from across the nation to participate featuring racers from Wyoming, New Jersey, and Delaware. Patti Hogan with the Ocean Springs Yacht Club said, “Everyone loves Ocean Springs. It’s a great sailing venue. We have a great area here for what we do, multi-hull racing. It’s a nice protected area. We have some good wind here. We have a great spot on the beach, great facilities, and the sailors love to come to Ocean Springs.”

The Ocean Springs Yacht Club will begin preparing for their next race at the end of the month. That race will take place during Ocean Springs’ 1699 celebration.
