Ocean Springs High names baseball field after legendary coach

The Ocean Springs High School baseball field now has a new name!

The field is now named after legendary Baseball Coach Steve Tomaszewski, who coached the Greyhounds for 18 years.

His tenure with the Greyhounds began in 1974 and highlighted by winning a state title in 1982.

During the ceremony, Coach Tom received the key to the City of Ocean Springs and a hand-drawn painting of the field’s scoreboard.

Coach Tom was joined by his wife, former players and coaches, and family for the special moment. “Well, I guess this is the icing on the cake for. Having a field named after you is just heartwarming and all these guys showed up today and last night. It’s just a lot of love.”

Coach Tom now has two grandson’s who play baseball and hopes that one day they can see his name on the scoreboard and bat in few runs while playing at ‘The Tom.’
