Ocean Springs Gymnast Overcomes Adversity, Fulfills Dream
Heading to an SEC school from Ocean Springs is standout gymnast Sarah Edwards.
This morning, the floor and vault specialist signed with LSU to carry out a dream that started at three years of age. All this time, she’s been perfecting her craft at Lanier’s Gymnastics in Gulfport. Despite the deck being stacked against her, Edwards is now a proud member of the Purple and Gold. “I’ve been doing gymnastics for 15 years and I’ve overcome some struggles. I’ve broken my back and made a rebound back into gymnastics and competed at level 10. I went to nationals at level 9 and I placed fifth in the nation. I’m really excited to see what this future holds. This is what I’ve dreamed of since I was little and it’s really a dream come true,” said Edwards.
There are no collegiate programs for gymnastics in the state of Mississippi.
Also signing today was a pair of baseball standouts heading to Jones County Junior College. Those being Cooper Brune and Garrett Crochet.
