Ocean Springs girls soccer coach taking East Central Community College job

Over at Ocean Springs, head girls soccer Coach Ryan Joiner has accepted the same position at East Central Community College where his official start date is June 1st.
That gives Joiner time to wrap up his second season with the Lady Greyhounds who played in the state title game last year.
Joiner wasn’t back home for very long, but he says he felt compelled to open the door when this bittersweet opportunity came a knocking. “I told somebody else that, when I told my girls and looked them in the face and said that I was going to take a job somewhere else that was probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Obviously I’ve left other jobs before and that was tough, but home is always where the heart is and it’s where you want to be so leaving here is a very difficult thing. When I came to Ocean Springs I expected to be here a long time, I really did. But these opportunities don’t come open. These junior college or college jobs aren’t available that often, they’re very, very good jobs. So when it came open I decided I wanted to look into it, interview and here where we are.”
Joiner was previously the head boys soccer coach at St. Stanislaus where he won back-to-back-back state titles.
