Ocean Springs Freshman Student Council holds inaugural Mother-Son Dance
One local high school gave mothers and their sons the opportunity to make memories of a lifetime over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Ocean Springs High School Freshman Student Council hosted a mother-son dance for boy from grades kindergarten through sixth grade.
Mothers and their sons danced the day away while playing games and spending quality time with each other.
Organizer Avery Wallace says it was the first mother-son dance Ocean Springs has ever held and that is a change from the traditional ‘father-daughter dance.’ “The reason we do a mother-son dance is because they’ve been doing daddy-daughter dances for a long time. And we just wanted mothers and sons to have a really good time bonding with each other, and just have a place where they can do it — get all dressed up and feel good and fancy, and just have a good place to do it.”
All proceeds raised from the dance benefit the class of 2027.
