Ocean Springs firefighters train for car fire scenarios

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- The Ocean Springs Fire Department trained for car fire scenarios.

The department focusing on operations in a parking garage.

The firefighters developed strategies for getting water where it needed to be and learned when deployment of a fire blanket might be needed.

Crews worked to familiarize themselves with the parking garage, learning where EV charging stations, electrical shutoffs, access points, and other critical features are located.

The fire department says that knowing a building before the call comes in is just as important.

Pre-incident knowledge helps crews make better decisions and operate more efficiently.
