Ocean Springs Fire Department’s first ‘Fire Hounds’ summer program a success

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- The Ocean Springs Fire Department says their first-ever Fire Hounds summer program was a success.

The crew says the smiles on children’s faces prove it. The fire crew also thanked everyone who made the program possible.

The first up is the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce, donating $2,500 in total. This donation was used to buy the youth firefighters gear and helped provide additional snacks.

Ocean Springs Lumber is also being recognized for their donation of supplies to the fire program.

Around $500 in material was given to the department, that material was used to build training props for the camp.

The Ocean Springs Fire Department says these props were a hit with the kids and helped create learning experiences that made fire safety education fun and memorable.

The crew also shared the materials will allow the props to be used for years to come.
