Ocean Springs Fire Department Names Heath as new Fire Chief

Ocean Springs, MS – The City of Ocean Springs is pleased to announce the appointment of Ryan Heath as the new Fire Chief, effective June 19, 2024.

Chief Heath brings over 18 years of dedicated service with the Ocean Springs Fire Department, having risen through the ranks with a proven track record of leadership and commitment to public safety.

In his previous role as Deputy Chief, Heath spearheaded numerous initiatives that enhanced emergency response capabilities and improved community outreach programs.

His extensive experience and strategic vision make him uniquely qualified to lead the department into its next chapter.

Chief Heath holds a bachelor’s degree in emergency management with a concentration in fire science and carries numerous certifications in leadership and hazard mitigation.

Mayor Kenny Holloway expressed confidence in Chief Heath’s ability to uphold the department’s esteemed legacy while embracing innovation.

“Chief Heath has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication throughout his career. He understands the challenges facing our community and has the skills necessary to navigate them effectively. He was a great choice for Deputy Fire Chief, and I believe he will be an even greater asset to this department and our community in this new role.”

Chief Heath expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as Fire Chief, stating, “I am honored to lead such a dedicated team of firefighters and emergency responders. Together, we will continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of Ocean Springs’s residents.”
