Ocean Springs Fire Department holds drive-thru for free masks

You may think firefighters only help protect us from fires, the Ocean Springs Fire Department shows us otherwise.

Earlier today, a couple of Ocean Springs firefighters took a break from putting out fires and handed out free masks to local residents.

The masks were handed out in a drive-thru style in order to abide by social distancing guidelines.

Cones directed traffic from the road through the station’s stall where a pack of five masks was handed to each driver.  Ocean Springs Firefighter Cole Broadus said, “We try and help the community where we can. You know, we’ve been asked to do a number of odd things that, you know, sometimes we can’t, but most of the time we can. We, uh, we try to say yes where we can, you know. So, it’s, there’s a number of things. We’ve passed out water and right now we’re doing the masks. Just anything that we can help the community, we’ll try to do.”

Local Ocean Springs businesses can also receive free masks. All they need to do is reach out to the fire department and masks will be provided directly to the business.
