Ocean Springs Dedicates New Vietnam War Memorial

A new monument now stands at the Ocean Springs Vietnam Memorial. About 50 veterans and family gathered in Ocean Springs for the unveiling.

The monument is dedicated to all the Seabees from Mississippi who served in the Vietnam War. A master chef even made a cake in the shape of the monument. The vets hope this monument will live on as a solid reminder of the sacrifices that were made for the freedoms this and future generations enjoy.

Jerry Nicolls, a Vietnam veteran, says, "It just represents the sacrifices they had to make, that they made for the freedom of our country."

Richard Wade, another Vietnam vet, says, "It means a great deal. A lot of my buddies went over there and some of them did not come home. It means a lot to us."

The ceremony only lasted for about ten minutes, but the meaning behind the monument will live on for years.
