Ocean Springs Could Choose New Chief of Police Wed. Night

The City of Ocean Springs has been searching for a new chief of police since their previous chief retired in January. News 25 has learned a new chief could be named Wednesday night.

A special meeting has been called for city leaders to discuss the candidates. News 25 spoke with Ocean Springs Mayor, Connie Moran, Wednesday morning, and she says the board plans to openly discuss improvements they look to see within the police department and then they will go into an executive meeting to discuss their expectations from a new chief in private.

Mayor Moran says they could decide on a police chief Wednesday night, but they may decide the five candidates are lacking and look for another candidate. After two recent murder/suicides in the city, the board is serious about who they name as chief.
