Ocean Springs church hands out plates to local first responders and city workers

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Annual First Responders Luncheon

An Ocean Springs church honored local first responders today.

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church member Theresa Dantzler said, “It shows a sense of gratitude, gratitude for all that they do, you know, whether it’s from a hurricane or everyday life, you know, and we just felt like we need to give back.”

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Ocean Springs says the act of giving is what so many first responders do every day. On Tuesday, the church fed 150 first responders. They do this luncheon every year.

Charles Smith with Ocean Springs Police Department said, “The church, they take care of the employees of the city. So every single year they serve us lunch and they make good food.”

“You know, fried fish, fried chicken, baked chicken, potato salad, green beans, a variety of homemade baked goods, roll, sodas, water. That’s the menu.”

“For me, it means that they actually appreciate the city workers and the employees that work in the city. And this is one little thing that they can show their appreciation. So it means a lot for one that they just would give out their time. The members of the church would come here and cook us food. It really means a lot.”
