Ocean Springs child to be featured in Times Square video for Down syndrome awareness
Hudson Hartman is headed to the crossroads of the world — again!
The Ocean Springs boy will appear on Broadway on Sept. 18 as part of the annual National Down Syndrome Society’s Times Square Video presentation.
It will be Hudson’s third time to be part of the campaign. He previously was part of the Times Square Video presentation in 2019 and 2022.
The one-hour video of roughly 500 photos includes children, teens and adults with Down syndrome from all 50 states. The images promote value, acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.
Hudson’s photo, showing him as EXTRA determined in Cobra Kai gi, was selected from more than 2,100 entries in the society’s worldwide call for pictures. His photo will be shown on two JumboTron screens in the heart of Times Square, thanks to the support of ClearChannel Outdoor.
The presentation will be live-streamed on the NDSS Facebook page from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 18.
The Times Square Video presentation kicks off the flagship Buddy Walk, which has taken place in New York City since 1995 as part of the National Buddy Walk Program. Buddy Walks are held across the country, as well as select international locations.
This year’s Buddy Walk will once again take place virtually because of ongoing complications caused by COVID-19.
