Ocean Springs businesses buckle up for Peter Anderson Festival

Businesses in Downtown Ocean Springs are preparing for the weekend’s 43rd annual Peter Anderson Arts and Crafts Festival.

The festival, honoring the renowned master potter of the same name, draws crowds of over 100,000 people to Ocean Springs each year, giving a financial boom to downtown businesses.

The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and vendors will be on the streets promoting their art, food, and merchandise.

The festival is said to be so impactful that some businesses have had their grand openings during it.

The event will have around 300 local and out-of-town vendors this year. Maison De Lu Manager Ryan Jurich said, “I’ve been preparing for a couple of months actually. We do some to-go drinks, that’s pretty labor-intensive. Our blackberry margarita, I’ve kind of deemed it the unofficial drink of Peter Anderson — Blue Moon’s got the official title.”

The Pink Rooster Manager Tracey Pyle said, “Well we just welcome everybody to our community. We’re a, like I said, a little hidden gem in downtown Ocean Springs. We love people, we love people walking our streets and we love artists.”

The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
