Ocean Springs Board of Alderman meeting

An important board of alderman meeting will take place in Ocean Springs Tuesday to discuss audits and other financial things within the city.

Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson tells News 25 his intent is to make sure they are spending the taxpayer’s money as wisely and efficiently as possible. Mayor Dobson also explains the technology adjustments causing delays with audits. The old audit system previously used was outdated.

After hiring a new audit company, Mayor Dobson says there have been internal hiccups with the system. “The new audit company we hired has a lot more updated technology than us. There are just some issues getting one hand to talk to the other. It’s just a lot of internal hiccups and old software that we are having to make sure that we take out all the information and get the accurate information to the auditors.”

Mayor Dobson is currently working on the audits. The aldermen will discuss a completion date during the meeting Tuesday.
