Ocean Springs alum Avery Weed wins first collegiate individual title with Mississippi State

We have some exciting news in collegiate sports! Ocean Springs golf alum Avery Weed has officially secured her first individual collegiate title! Mississippi state golfer Avery Weed won her first individual title 13 under par at the Mason Rudolph Championship.

She established her lead early on the first day and simply never looked back. Weed also finished opening day with a score of 7 under par, which tied for the fifth best round in Mississippi State history. Weed also played a huge role in bringing the SEC Championship title to Mississippi State as a freshman.

During her time at Ocean Springs, Weed was a three time individual state champion and three time team state champion. Shortly after graduation, Weed remained on the coast that summer and won the Mississippi Women’s State Amateur Championship.

The list goes on and on and it’s only going to get longer. Congratulations to our former WXXV Student Athlete of the Week, Avery Weed!
