Ocean Springs alum Avery Weed receives an invitation to Augusta National Women’s Amateur!
Avery Weed is a sophomore golfer at Mississippi State who already has an outstanding resume. She was a major factor when it came to the SEC semifinals and finals, and already has two individual titles to her name.
Just last week, Weed accomplished a dream in the form of a letter. On Friday, Avery received her invitation to the 2025 Augusta National Women’s Amateur. Only the top 72 amateurs in the world are invited to compete in this prestigious three day tournament.
Prior to her collegiate career, Weed was a student athlete at Ocean Springs high school where she won two individual state titles and two team state titles with the Greyhounds. She was also featured as a WXXV Student Athlete of the Week in 2023.
