President Visits with Orlando Shooting Victims Families
President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Orlando today to pay tribute to the victims of the deadly nightclub shooting last weekend.
President Obama met with the families of the 49 people killed and 53 injured when gunman Omar Mateen opened fire at the Pulse nightclub early Sunday.
After meeting with the families, Obama visited a memorial site where he spoke on the tragedy and advocated for gun control. “After the worst of humanity reared its evil head, the best of humanity came roaring back. Now, if we’re honest with ourselves, if, in fact, we want to show the best of our humanity then we’re all going to have to work together at every level of government, across political lines to do more to stop killers who want to terrorize us.”
