North Woolmarket Elementary School beach cleanup
Even though it was their first day back to school after spring break, 95 North Woolmarket Elementary first graders found themselves on the beach this morning.
Instead of kicking back and relaxing, the students were hard at work cleaning up trash off the beach.
The school teamed up with leaders of the Mississippi State Coastal Cleanup Project to help students with their ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ program. North Woolmarket teacher Kaelan Young said, “We have been working in class on the importance of picking up our trash. Recycling, reusing, and reducing our waste so the kids are out here getting some hands on-experience cleaning up our beaches.”
First grader Brinley Mence said, “We are cleaning up trash so animals don’t eat it or die.”
