North Gulfport Middle School holds eighth grade Next Step Ceremony

Over 300 eighth graders graduated from North Gulfport Middle School tonight. Their annual Next Step Ceremony was made extra special by the 1970s Wildcat alumni.

North Gulfport’s Wildcat Alumni made history by sponsoring 20 eighth graders for various achievements and accomplishments.

Students received awards for athletics, academics, citizenship, leadership, history, science, student of the year, and many more.

The alumni sponsored each award-winning student with $100 and a plaque for going above and beyond. Gulfport Sports Hall of Fame Alumni Beverly Coleman said, “Well, due to the COVID-19 and the lack of enthusiasm amongst the kids and they haven’t had anything to look forward to, we thought we would give back to our own community and give back to them by presenting them with an award for their accomplishments.”

Although all alumni who donated to the students and their accomplishments could not be in attendance, North Gulfport Middle School thanks them for giving back and not forgetting the kids in the community.
