North Bay Civitan Club of D’Iberville/ St. Martin kicking off ‘Beads for Specials Needs’ donations
The North Bay Civitan Club of D’Iberville and St. Martin is kicking off its ‘Beads for Special Needs’ donation event tomorrow.
The Civitan Club is asking anyone who has unwanted beads left over from the parades to bring them to the St. Martin Public Library, Jerry Lawrence Memorial Library, or Gunter Library and drop them in the Mardi Gras themed box.
Once all the beads are collected, they will be distributed to various agencies and schools, teaching life skills to individuals with intellectual and development disabilities.
The beads will be recycled and sold. North Bay Civitan Club President Keith Wilson said, “So, this is our second annual ‘Beads for Special Needs’ and this is a project that’s related to Civitan International’s impact area which is education and employment. So, a lot of these places will use the beads to recycle them, making sure that they are clean and resell them and they learn business skills out of that.”
Any organizations or businesses that would like to be a drop-off location can message the club on Facebook and they will bring a box and flyer to your location.
The donation will start February 15th and end on February 25th.
