North Bay Civitan Club of D’Iberville and St. Martin holds Bears on Patrol Drive
The North Bay Civitan Club of D’Iberville and St. Martin held their 12th annual Bears on Patrol Drive on Saturday.
The club set up a barricade drive-through where people could donate teddy bears. Each bear was then checked for cleanliness and then shipped off to first responders.
This year the stuffed animals were sent to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. These bears will be given to children in emergency situations to help them feel safe.
Over 60 students from St. Martin High and D’Iberville High came to help collect the bears. North Bay Civitan Club of D’Iberville and St. Martin President Keith Wilson said, “Their deputies are going to be able to go out, be able to hand those teddy bears out the community has brought to us. So, it’s a revolving circle and we’ve actually had some people who have been on the receiving end of teddy bears contact our club and let us know how much they appreciate what we’ve all done here.”
In total, the club collected about 250 bears to give to the sheriff’s department.
