Nonprofit organization holds Ramadan food box distribution in Biloxi

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- A local food distribution Monday helped some Biloxi families in need put food on the table.

A nonprofit organization is stepping in as food insecurity continues to rise across the country.

Islamic Relief USA is working to support vulnerable families right here in Biloxi.

The nonprofit organization, alongside the Biloxi Islamic Center, distributed food boxes to help ease the growing burden of food insecurity.

Organizers say food insecurity has been on the rise over the past year, leaving more families struggling to make ends meet. To help address that need, Islamic Relief USA and local volunteers distributed a total of 336 food boxes, benefiting several families.

The distribution took place in a drive-thru format, allowing families to safely receive food boxes without leaving their vehicles.
