No Ole Miss football players opting out of postseason play

As COVID-19 continues to have a significant impact on the outcome of bowl games, some of which aren’t even being played, Ole Miss is still as well-positioned as any program in the country, heading into its Sugar Bowl date with Baylor.

According to second year Head Coach Lane Kiffin, not a single Rebels player has opted out of the team’s bowl game, including players that would otherwise be prepping for the NFL Draft such as Ole Miss quarterback and future first round pick Matt Corral.

Even some of the players in the transfer portal intend to keep practicing with the team through bowl season. Coach Kiffin said, “I think it’s awesome, especially — we didn’t have a conversation. It’s not like someone came in wavering and we had to talk them out of it, or go over the pros and cons. I think it says a lot about this team. I think it says the culture that’s been created here and — I think improvement from year one to year two, also, when you look at that. It takes a while for your culture to set in. So that was really cool to see, to not have to deal with that.”

The Rebels and Bears will kick things off from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans at 7:45 p.m. Saturday on ESPN.
