No more dirt roads east of Lee Street in Biloxi
Contractor Oscar Renda says come August there will be no more dirt roads east of Lee Street in Biloxi.
The contracting company is reporting Iroquois and Thelma streets should be paved in the next month and drainage lines on Nichols Drive should be in place by the end of June.
By the end of summer, the new sewer system is expected to be in place for the entire 2.2 mile length of Division Street where paving is already in place from Oak Street to Penny Street.
At the west end of the project, drainage on several streets off Porter Avenue, including Cherokee, Columbus and Balboa and Circle Park, should be completed by the end of summer. City of Biloxi Public Affairs Manager Vincent Creel said, “Everybody looks at this thing likes it is so far behind schedule. Quite frankly, it’s not behind schedule until July of next year. They are still within their time frame. They’ve still got a lot of work to do, but the milestone announcement is Oscar Renda’s going to have every road east of Lee Street is going to have pavement on it.”
The $124 million infrastructure project is seeing 55 miles of roadways rebuilt in east Biloxi north of the CSX Railway.
