NJCAA football thriving on the coast after week 1

Both Mississippi Gulf Coast and Pearl River Community College picked up massive week 1 wins last Thursday against ranked opponents.

MGCCC defeated #2 Mississippi Community College 34-28 behind 233 passing yards and 5 touchdowns from Landon Varnes. The Bulldogs are now ranked #6 in the latest rankings.

PRCC went on the road in week 1 and defeated the 7th ranked Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers. The Wildcats came home with w thrilling 24-23 victory to start their season 1-0.

Both teams will hit the road once again in week 2. The Bulldogs will face Mississippi Delta Community College on Thursday at 7:00. Pearl River Community College will face Itawamba Community College on Thursday at 7:00. This will be the first time the Wildcats will take on the Lions since 2019.
