Nine-year-old shot and killed while sitting in car in Starkville

A nine-year-old boy in Starkville has died after being shot while sitting inside a vehicle.

According to the Oktibbeha County coroner, Lasang Kemp Jr. died from his injuries at a Starkville area hospital.

Police responded to a call Wednesday about shots fired at an apartment complex and say Lasang was in a vehicle with someone associated with that shooting.

So far, no suspects have been named.
