Nine members of the PRCC baseball program received MACCC honors
College teams across the Magnolia state are receiving word of conference accolades, as the regular season ends, and the Pearl River Community College baseball team is no stranger to that list.
The Wildcats brought home some major honors, and one of the most notable names on the list of accolades goes to East Central alum Hollis Porter, who takes home MACCC Baseball Player of the Year. “Hammering Hollis Porter” as they call him had one of the most impressive seasons in Pearl River history, ending the year with a .399 batting average, .488 on base percentage, and a .871 slugging percentage. He also broke the single season program record with 20 home runs along with 21 doubles and for triples. Congratulations, Hollis!
Hollis is joined by another coast alum, Resurrection Catholic and 1A State Champion JT Schnoor, who received Second Team MACCC honors. The future Diamond Dawg finished the year with a 3.52 ERA across 71 and two-thirds innings pitched. He struck out 96 batters this year and only allowed 28 walks. Congratulations, JT!
Finally the skipper of the program, Michael Avalon, is also taking home a major honor being selected as the MACCC Baseball Coach of the Year. What a huge accomplishment after a big time season over at The River following a 49-10 season.
Other notable Wildcats named to the All-Conference roster include Jeff Ince, Bryce Fowler, and Thomas Crabtree with first team honors, Caston Thompson and JP Robertson on the second team, and Marshall Phillips with honorable mention.
Congratulations to all of the Wildcats for their post season honors!
