Nine fallen Mississippi officers added to National Law Enforcement Memorial

Today, Senator Cindy Hyde Smith encouraged policymakers and the public to ‘put words into action’ in terms of supporting law enforcement.

Senator Hyde Smith made the request in a Congressional record statement honoring the nine fallen law enforcement officers from Mississippi whose names were added to the National Law Enforcement Memorial in the capital.

She read out the names of each of the officers being honored.

As part of National Police Week, Hyde-Smith co-sponsored U.S. Senator John Cornyn’s ‘Back the Blue’ Act that would increase the penalties for criminals who kill, threaten, or conspire to kill federal judges, law enforcement officers, or public safety officers.

Representative Mike Ezell co-sponsored a bill in the house that expresses support for law enforcement officers across the country and honors fallen officers from 2022.
