News 25 Game of the Week preview: Harrison Central vs. St. Martin

When it comes to selecting a News 25 high school football game of the week, it’s all about mutual respect. This week, both Harrison Central and St. Martin have plenty of it, leading up to Friday’s head-to-head match-up.

The balance of power in region 4 class 6A is on the line in this one with the home team Red Rebels currently sitting atop the division with a league mark of 2-0.

Meanwhile, the visiting Yellowjackets have a district record of 1-1 and neither head coach is overlooking the playoff caliber team on the other sideline. St. Martin head coach Eddie Wayne Whitehead said, “I don’t know if it’s exciting, I’m scared to death. You want to see how your kids perform, see how they rise to the challenge and so that’s all about coaching, it’s having your kids ready and having them playing hard.”

Harrison Central head coach Casey Cain said, “It’s a very big challenge. I think they’ve probably got the fastest team on the Coast, probably got one of the best running backs on the Coast. They do a great job, they’re real fast and big on defense. This will definitely be our hardest challenge up to date.”

Kickoff for tomorrow’s showdown is slated for 7 p.m. from Harrison Central High School. We’ll have highlights on WXXV at 9 on FOX and 10 on NBC.
