Newly elected Stone County Sheriff aiming for change
Newly elected Stone County Sheriff Todd Stewart is working to make changes in both the Stone County Sheriff’s Department and Stone County community.
The sheriff is focusing on recruiting more deputies, cracking down on pet and animal disturbances while also trying to establish more accreditation programs for the department which allows for more internal investigations.
Sheriff Stewart is excited to start hosting town-hall meetings to better community relations throughout the county. “I want to dedicate time to meet with the community in each of the districts so they can bring their concerns to me. I’m going to have my command staff with me, and we’ll come up with solutions, hopefully, that night to address any concerns they may have”, Sheriff Stewart says.
Since becoming sheriff, Stewart says the new role has been a little hectic, a little busy, but exciting.
