Newk’s raising money for ovarian cancer research

Throughout September, each of Newk’s 100-plus restaurants nationwide will turn teal, the signature color of the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance.

Newk’s in Gulfport is all set with teal signage, collectable cups, donation ribbons, and more to get the fundraiser started.

Lori Newcomb, founder of Newk’s Cares and wife of Newk’s Eatery Co-founder and CEO, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2013 and lost that battle in 2019.

To this day, her vision and dedication help Newk’s raise research funds and invaluable awareness of the disease.

Guests will be offered multiple ways to participate in the fundraiser, including donating $1, $3, or $5 in the restaurant, online at Newkscares.com or purchasing a Newk’s water bottle.

Donations will go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. Newk’s Manager Misti Quintero said, “Come to Newk’s and help us get the word out about the ovarian cancer and help us raise donations. We love to see you come in. I’m really happy about it and it makes me proud that we are doing something for a good cause.”

Catering Lead Annie Nuss said, “Absolutely blessed to be able to do it.”

Newk’s will also hold it’s annual ‘Lori’s Day’ on September 27th, when they will contribute 20 percent of all sales to the alliance. They are trying to reach a goal of $2 million in donations.
