New Year’s Eve safety tips

While you are getting ready to celebrate the New Year, it is important to stay safe in order to kick off 2019.

Designate a sober driver or plan in advance to have someone pick you up from your location if impaired. Choose a location to celebrate that offers an overnight stay such as a friend’s house or a hotel.

Don’t hesitate to take the keys away from family members or loved ones who should not be behind the wheel.

Captain Milton Houseman with Biloxi PD wants everyone to enjoy themselves, but stay safe especially with the chance of weather being a factor. “Get yourself home safely without risking injury to yourself and to other people by trying to operate your vehicle. Even if you think you’re not impaired, you may very well be impaired. So, always try to be safe.”

There will also be safety checkpoints making sure everyone on the Coast gets home safely.
