New waters open to shrimping in South Mississippi
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- More South Mississippi waters opened to shrimping operations Friday morning.
The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources says additional waters near Deer Island and the Biloxi Bay Channel are now open to those activities.
The Biloxi Channel is not included in the new opening.
A reminder, shrimp season in waters north of the intracoastal waterway will close December 31st.
Meanwhile, the season in waters south of the intracoastal waterway and west of the Gulfport Ship Channel will remain open through April 30, 2027.
