New upgrades and additions at Jackson County Soccer Complex
Jackson County officials cut the ribbon on a $3.2 million project for the soccer complex in Gautier.
You will get a kick out of all the upgrades and additions to the soccer complex. The three-year project added wide parking lots, handicap accessibility, a walking track for parents and kids, drainage for wet weather and elevated fields, and shaded pavilions.
There are now four courts of a new trendy international sport ‘futnet,’ a combination of tennis and soccer for players to enjoy. Jackson County Recreation Director Darcie Crew said, “Everybody has been so pleased with the improvements, that it kind of has something for everybody if you’re interested in multipurpose fields. We see a lot more activity, even during the regular soccer practices and soccer games, one of the moms has started a walking club. So, we’re seeing that they use the walking track for their activity. So, they’re staying fit as well. So ultimate overall wellness for our community.”
More work is scheduled for the future, including additional restrooms for the west side of the field.
