New tenant for old Biloxi Public Library building
A new tenant is booked to open business at the old Biloxi Library.
Built in the 1920s, the old city building on Lameuse Street hasn’t operated as a library since the mid-1970s. The owner of Le Café Beignet plans to turn the historic building into a second location. The coffee and gourmet sandwich shop is on Rue Magnolia Street, also located in downtown Biloxi.
The owner tells News 25 expanding her business inside a historical piece of her hometown is a dream come true. Owner Sita La’Cap said, “This is just something we have been waiting for for a very long time. Being a small business owner, growing up right on the same street, this means the world to us that we’re able to grow and also revitalize the old Biloxi Library which hasn’t been in use for a while. We’re really looking forward to this.”
A grand opening for the new Le Café Beignet is set for October 15th. Officials are working on relocating the city offices that currently occupy the old building.
