New Space for Jackson County Coroner
Soon Jackson County Coroner Vicki Broadus and her office will make the much needed move to a larger space.
Since 2005, Broadus and her staff have been limited to three small rooms in a county building on Amonett Street. In February, Broadus brought her concerns of a cramped workspace to the board of supervisors. Since then they have reviewed several options. Today, they decided on a space within the county’s health department building on Vega Street in Pascagoula. District 1 Supervisor Barry Cumbest said, “She’s working in some very cramped conditions. She has to keep a lot of records and she just has a tremendous amount of records. The space she was in just didn’t allow her to keep any records hardly or she’s got them piled up on top of each other so to speak. So, this area will give her a lot more space to keep her records as they should be kept.”
The roomier area will also provide more room for Broadus and other workers to comfortably meet with families of the deceased.
