New senior center opens in Biloxi
Senior citizens in Harrison County now have a new facility to socialize at during the week.
Harrison County Board of Supervisors celebrated the relocation of the Harrison County East Biloxi Senior Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
The center was formerly located at the Creel House on the grounds of the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art. After an increase in participation, the center has moved to the old health department building on Parker Street in Biloxi. Harrison County District 1 Supervisor Beverly Martin said, “We have ceramic classes, art classes, we have exercise rooms. It’s growing. It’s kind of mini right now, but we take field trips with the senior citizens, just to get them out and keep them busy so they feel a part of the community.”
The senior center is open to Harrison County residents 55 years of age and older. The facility will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
