New School Unveiled

Seventh and eighth graders in Biloxi will soon have a new junior high to call their own.
Tonight, during a Biloxi school board meeting, parents and students got a first look at the school that’s currently in the works. Architects revealed the complete design of the $34 million two-story building. The school can hold up to 1,200 students and will be on about 20 acres of land on Jam Lane next to the high school.
Superintendent Arthur McMillian tells News 25 he’s ecstatic about this development. “Well, I think that wow factor that I talk about is it gives that great look of an inviting environment to education setting. It leads you into the next century for technology and going toward the STEM aspect of educating children.”
School officials say enrollment has grown tremendously each year since Hurricane Katrina and this school is much needed. Construction will hopefully begin in March.
