New Rates for Charter Boats in Biloxi

The City of Biloxi now has the lowest berthing rates for charter boats on the entire Coast. The decision was made at the Biloxi City Council meeting today.
The berthing rate has gone from $6 to $3 a square foot in the Point Cadet Marina and the Small Craft Harbor.
City officials tell News 25 they are hoping the lower rates will help charter boat captains with all the costs they have to pay and increase the number of charter boats in Biloxi. City of Biloxi Public Affairs Manager Vincent Creel said, “The key thing is that we want to make sure we’re collecting enough money to meet the costs of maintaining and operating our public harbors and marinas. We don’t believe that everyone in Biloxi should be subsidizing the operations down at the harbors and marinas. Not everyone owns a boat. This is an operation that should pay for itself.”
City officials say if they can attract more charter boat services it will help bring in tourism dollars for the city. There are currently three dozen charter boats in Biloxi harbors.
