New pickleball facility weeks away from opening in Biloxi

The countdown to opening day for The Picklr has begun, where in just under a month’s time Biloxi will be home to a new indoor pickle ball facility to sate all their pickleball needs.

“We’re going to be the one stop shop. We’re going to have a full pro shop, all of your pickleball gear that you need, all of the paddles, all of the brands. We’re going to have premium courts, a premium club, everything is for the players,” said owner, David Johnston.

The new facility along Pass Rd has been in the works since March of this year, and for David, it’s about time that South Mississippi has place where the pickleball can keep on going rain or shine.

“I can’t even put words to how excited we are to have it coming to town. I grew up here, I started playing pickleball here and all the times we had the weather delays and the bugs biting you and it’s windy outside, cold, hot, all that. You don’t have to worry about it now, you just come play in the AC.”

The new facility brings along with it outdoor court surfaces in an indoor setting, sound deadening walls, and overhead lights specifically designed to make sure everyone can keep their eye on the ball. Both new and seasoned players are welcome, and you can grab a court by both walking in or securing one through a reservation. The Picklr will also provide specialized memberships, tournaments, clinics, and 15 total courts, which David sees as an opportunity to bring pickleballers from across South Mississippi together under one roof.

“Not only can you play seven days a week, eighteen hours a day if you wanted to, it has fifteen courts so you can bring a lot more people in there. So, where you have these small groups that play in a lot of different areas, this gives you one big place where everyone can all connect as a big community and come together and play together.”

The Picklr is planned to open December 14th.
