New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame Weekend at MGM Park

As a part of the third annual New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame Weekend on the Gulf Coast, current and former players were invited to MGM Park for tonight’s Biloxi Shuckers game versus the Mississippi Braves.

Talk about a who’s who of Saints royalty featuring Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees Rickey Jackson and Willie Roaf. This year’s class is headlined by former running back Pierre Thomas, who received a special introduction prior to first pitch.

A proud group of Saints alumni more than happy to pay it forward to a Gulf Coast fan base that’s always been loyal to the Black and Gold.  Roaf said, “Just like New Orleans went through a lot after Katrina, this area went through a lot, too. And I remember some people got displaced and all the damage it did, so it’s great to see everybody and all the players and it’s always great to come back. And this baseball team is doing a great job they said, we’re in first place right now.”

Thomas said, “Now to be considered as a Hall of Famer, that’s just unbelievable because as a young athlete when you’re a kid. Just like these kids, if you could like veer off real quick cameraman, veer off, these kids got ambitions, they’ve all got their gloves out. I mean I was in their shoes, too. Just trying to be one of these players that they’re here seeing right now, one of these baseball players, that was my first love, but also trying to make it in football is just more of a dream come true. And now to be named a Hall of Famer when you were just trying to be in the game just to be a part of the game at the highest level, I mean it’s truly an honor.”

Joining Thomas in the Saints Hall of Fame class of 2018 is another undrafted free agent, former wideout Lance Moore, as well as Saints director of photography Michael Hebert.
