New Orleans Saints fans react to the Dennis Allen firing
After seven consecutive losses, the New Orleans Saints have fired Head Coach Dennis Allen in a move that many fans have been calling for.
Saints Fan Rick Griffin said, “Definitely was time for a change. Not a good year for him so something needed to happen. If that’s the decision they decided to make then so be it but something definitely needed to happen.”
In 43 games as head coach, Dennis Allen led the Saints to just an 18-25 record with no playoff appearances. “Yeah, obviously I’m hurting right now. Hurting for our city, hurting for our organization, hurting for those guys in that locker room.”
The writing was on the wall as the Saints 2024 campaign had a lot of promise after a 2-0 start but seven weeks later, due to injuries and underperforming, the Saints now find themselves at 2-7.
Saints fan Chris Taylor said, “You know every coach has that opportunity to try hard and I guess it didn’t work out because now they’ve lost seven games and I think they should’ve won at least three or four of them.”
Saints fan Mike Willard said, “They haven’t been doing so well. I think a change right now would be okay with me. Hopefully they’ll get someone in there that can bring the Saints back to a winning standard.”
Even though the season wasn’t going the way many Saints fans were hoping, they seemed split on if firing Allen now was the right choice.
“Go ahead and use this time now to prep for next season instead of starting out next year and at least you get something going this year that will hopefully make next year better.”
“Well, I would probably let him finish out the season as head coach, but go ahead and get things lined up for next year.”
“Who are they going to get now? Who’s out there to grab that would do a better job than what he did? New Orleans had injuries but you know NFL coaches are at the mercy of whatever happens.”
The Saints announced the Special Teams Coordinator Darren Rizzi will be promoted to interim head coach for the remainder of the season.
