New Orleans man charged with aggravated DUI in Hancock County

A New Orleans man is in the Hancock County jail, charged with aggravated DUI.

51-year-old Rodney Darnell Mars was arrested August 30 by Bay St. Louis Police and taken to Hancock County jail. His bond was set at $500,000. He has a court date set for September 16.

The charge stemmed from an incident on August 17. Bay St. Louis police say Mars’ vehicle left the roadway near the 13-mile-marker on Interstate 10, crossed the median and struck another vehicle on the interstate.

The occupants of the other vehicle and Mars were taken to area hospitals for non life-threatening injuries.

Mars’ passenger, Catherine Peters, 51, of New Orleans, was pronounced dead at the scene.
