New ‘off-leash’ dog friendly beach locations

Dog owners will soon be able to take their pups to a part of the Pascagoula Beach without a leash.

The Pascagoula City Council recently voted to allow dogs to be off-leash on a multi-block stretch of its beach. Owners must have direct supervision of their dogs at all times and the city is increasing fines for failing to pick up dog waste to $500.

The off-leash dog park at River Park remains available to pet lovers, along with a designated area at I.G. Levy Park North, adjacent to the Scranton Nature Center.

With the completion of the new amphitheater and the new sidewalk and amenities connecting the beach avenue promenade to the point, Pascagoula Mayor Dane Maxwell says this is the perfect opportunity to bring your entire family along for outings in Pascagoula.
