New Light Missionary Baptist celebrates 148 years

A Vancleave church is remembering and rejoicing on the past 148 years.

New Light Missionary Baptist Church is happy to be celebrating so many years in Vancleave. They celebrated by fellowshipping over lunch.

All members of New Light think of each other as family, but that is literally the case for most as attending New Light has become a tradition among some Vancleave families.

The current pastor, Ellis Reddix, has been attending New Light his whole life, only taking a small break to join the Army.

His grandfather helped start the church and his whole family has been attending ever since.  “You can do anything through God,” said Pastor Reddix. “I mean because in spite of our trials and tribulations and things that we’ve went through, people have counted us out, but we’re still here after 148 years.”

New Light Missionary Baptist welcomes all to join them in making even more memories within this historic church.
