New Hardware for Biloxi Fire Department
The City of Biloxi’s fire fighters will be a little safer and have a little more style after getting their hands on some brand new hardware.
Recently, the Biloxi Fire Department received a grant for $25,000 and after getting a $2,500 contribution from the city, 106 new helmets have been purchased. Now every fire fighter working in Biloxi has an up to date helmet.
Chief Joe Boney tells News 25 that this purchase provides a much needed upgrade for Biloxi’s fire department. “We took the opportunity through this grant to purchase new helmets. Not just buy new helmets, but we wanted to upgrade. We wanted to provide, there’s a lot of technology that goes into fire equipment and these helmets, they are no different.”
According to the National Fire Protection Association, these helmets should last for the next ten years.
